Of Extrinsic Ani ) Intrinsic Pathways

چکیده
Bq II. L. NO55EL T MECHANISMS, the extrinsic and the intrinsic, have been defined whereby in vitro blood coagulation may be initiated. The extrinsic system is initiated by tissue thromboplastin which, in the presence of Factor VII and calcium, activates Factor X (Stuart-Prower factor).’5 The intrinsic system is initiated by foreign surface contact which results in sequential activation of Factors XII ( Hageman factor ) , XI ( PTA-Plasma thromboplastin antecedent), and IX (Christmas factor or PTC-plasma thromboplastin component).61C The extent to which these activation mechanisms function in vivo is unknown and methods are required for identifying the occurrence of the different reactions which initiate the two pathways. Previous studies have shown that activation of Factors XI and IX by foreign surface contact is associated with directly proportional consumption of these factot.s,’3’4 and that serum derived from blood clotted with tissue thromboplastin has a low Factor X content.’1 The consumption of coagulation Factors IX, X, and XI resulting from activation of the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways was studied to determine whether the two activation mechanisms result in different patterns of coagulation factor utilization. The results of these studies are reported in this paper.

Umbelliprenin from Ferula szowitsiana Activates both Intrinsic and Extrinsic Pathways of Apoptosis in Jurkat T-CLL Cell Line
Umbelliprenin is a prenylated compound, which belongs to the class of sesquiterpene coumarins. It is extracted from dried roots of Ferula szwitsiana collected from the mountains of Golestan forest (Golestan Province, north of Iran). Induction of apoptosis in Jurkat T-CLL cells has been previously shown. In this study, effect of umbelliprenin on proapoptotic caspases (caspase-8 and -9) and antia...

متن کاملApoptosis: from Signalling Pathways to Therapeutic Tools
Apoptosis or programmed cell death is a gene regulated phenomenon which is important in both physiological and pathological conditions. It is characterized by distinct morphological features including chromatin condensation, cell and nuclear shrinkage, membrane blebbing and oligonucleosomal DNA fragmentation. Although, two major apoptotic pathways including 1) the death receptor (extrinsic) and...
متن کاملThe Psychological Function of Nostalgia: Increasing Intrinsic Self-Expression and Decreasing Extrinsic Self-Definition
Previous findings have shown the many functions of nostalgia, for example, increasing mental health, and the current research aimed to explain those findings by testing the theoretical explanation that the benefits of nostalgia come from the fact that nostalgia reminds us of our intrinsic self. Aiming to investigate the effect of nostalgia on authenticity (intrinsic self-expression) and extrins...
